PASSPORT REQUIREMENT FOR CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA, DUBAI

Information for applicants applying to CGI Dubai

PASSPORT SERVICES

Following selection item lists the all passport categories that one can apply. Select your desired passport type from the list given below, to get the additional requirements.



General Information Applicable to all Passport Services:

  1. It is an offence to hold more than one valid passport at a time.
  2. It is an offence under the Passport Act 1967 to furnish false information in the application. Passport facilities would be denied on grounds of suppression of material information, submission of incorrect particulars, willful damage/loss of passport or for unauthorized change/tampering. The Passport can be impounded or revoked for violation of one or more of the provisions under the Passport Act.
  3. An ordinary passport is valid for ten years from the date of issue. It may please be noted that the Passport Issuing Authority, can issue passports even for a shorter duration. If the passport is issued for a short period for any reason, it can be reissued for a maximum period of ten years. Minors are issued passports for 5 years or up to attaining 18 years of age, whichever is earlier.
  4. Validity of Passport Issued with regards to Tatkal Applications are the at the sole discretion of issuing authorities at Embassy Of India, Abu Dhabi and Consulate General Of India, Dubai.
  5. The scale of fees for renewal and various passport related services including all kinds of miscellaneous services on passport are prescribed by Government of India from time to time.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT APPLICATIONS

  1. Passport can be renewed within one year before the date of expiry.
  2. Any change in particulars like spouse name endorsement, address changeor any correction in passport bio page details, the service to be availed is "Reissue of New Passport".
  3. If passport is valid for more than one year and having more than 5 blank pages in the passport, applicant will require prior approval from Consulate General of India, Dubai for issuance of Passport.
  4. If applicant is having a recently issued passport which is not older than 6 months and if they want to apply for any kind of services other than MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES, needs to get prior approval from CGI Dubai.
  5. A Passport expired for more than 6 months up-to 1 year should be supported by a request letter explaining the circumstances and the reasons for late renewal. If passport expired for more than 1 year then request letter with proper explanation and prior approval required from Consulate General of India, Dubai along with instruction note from BLS.
  6. Original Passport need to be submitted for all kind of services.
  7. All applicants should submit the application in person for identification (Including minors and new born babies).
  8. All signatures in the application form should be in a dark ballpoint pen of black and signed in the presence of BLS International Services Customer Service Officer. Those who cannot affix their signatures like infants, minors or illiterate should put their thumb impression in the place of signature in the presence of the Customer Service Officer at BLS International Service Center.
  9. Expansion of initials of Parents and Spouse name which is mentioned in the last cover page of the passport is not mandatory. However applicants who wishes to expand initials of either their parent or spouse names can do so by providing relevant documents along with request letter with proper explanation and prior approval required from Consulate General of India, Dubai along with instruction note from BLS.
  10. Indian Female citizen married to GCC nationals and holding Short Validity Passport (SVP), pre-approval is required. Applicant is required to visit personally to the consulate for pre-approval.
  11. Any Changes/Corrections to be amended in the passport should be accompanied with documentary evidence; request letter with proper explanation and prior approval required from Consulate General of India, Dubai along with instruction note from BLS.
  12. Applicants holding short validity passports in which Place of Issue, Place of Birth or Permanent Address is from J & K or Srinagar, processing time will be Minimum 5 Working Days and no TATKAL Service. If applicant is holding a 10 year valid passport then Tatkal service is available.
  13. If applicant is having court case in Dubai or India, application has to be accepted under short validity passport (SVP) service even though applicant is holding valid visa.Along with the application Court paper (Legal English Translation required if the document in Arabic) and CGI approval is required.

Note:

  1. All photo testified letters should have applicants photograph pasted on it and sponsor's signature / company seal should be across applicants photograph.
  2. Before approaching Consulate General of India, Dubai for any kind of approval applicant needs to visit one of BLS Center.

PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATIONS

  1. 2 recent photos 51mm*51mm (not older than three months, no uniform) with white background and DARK DRESS with frontal view. Eyes open, Ears, forehead & chin to be completely visible, no shadows on the face and neck, no reflections on the glasses.

UAE RESIDENCE VISA

  1. I. UAE Residence visa has to be valid at the time of submission for any passport services. In case if UAE residence visa is cancelled/expired/not stamped the following additional documents are required to be submitted along with the passport application.

    Visa expired within grace period of 30 days and working with the same company/individual sponsor, Photo testified letter in English and valid trade license copy of the company is required. For dependent's Photo testified letter and passport copy of the sponsor with valid UAE visa page is required.

  2. Note: Eligible to get Full Validity Passport.

  3. Visa expired out of grace period upto one year working with the same company/individual sponsor or new company - detailed explanation letter, Photo testified letter in English and valid trade license copy of the company is required. For dependent's Photo testified letter and passport copy of the sponsor with valid UAE visa page is required.
  4. Note: Eligible to get Short Validity Passport.

  5. Visa is expired for more than one year - detailed explanation letter, Photo testified letter in English and valid trade license copy of the company / sponsor passport copy with valid UAE visa page and prior approval is required from Consulate General of India, Dubai along with instruction note from BLS.
  6. For new employment - Offer Letter attested by Chamber of Commerce (Dubai/ Sharjah & Northern Emirates) where the company is registered OR Valid employment Paper VISA in Original and copy, photo testified letter from the company (in English) and valid trade license copy is required.
  7. Note: Eligible to get Short Validity Passport in case if new employment visa paper is not available.

  8. For new employment cases - If applicant existing UAE visa is cancelled and under grace period - offer letter attested by chamber of commerce, photo testified letter, valid Trade License and Visa cancellation paper are required.
  9. Note: Eligible to get Full validity passport.

  10. II. Female applicant if the visa status is showing as HOUSEWIFE and name of sponsor is not matching with husband name in the passport, then NOC & passport copy of the sponsor is required.
  11. III. For Abu Dhabi / Al-Ain Visa holder
  12. Abu Dhabi/Al-Ain visa holders applying at center in Dubai / Sharjah / Northern Emirates should provide the address proof in their name for the residency in Dubai / Sharjah / Northern Emirates i.e. Tenancy Contract/Electricity Bill in English.
  13. For Dependent's photo testified letter from the sponsor with the details of the accommodation mentioned and tenancy contract under the sponsor's name along with passport copy of the sponsor with valid visa page is required.
  14. If residing in company's accommodation or those who don't have tenancy contract under their name then photo testified letter from the company (in English) on Company Letter Head stating that their Visa is from Abu Dhabi/Al-Ain but currently working and residing in Dubai/ Sharjah / Northern Emirates.

BLS OFFICE TIMINGS:

  1. 08.00 AM to 08.00 PM - Saturday to Thursday.
  2. TOKENS will be issued ONLY from 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 01:00 PM to 06:30 PM.
